Women in Sales: Lessons and Advice from 10 Women
Look at the org chart for any B2B sales team, and you’ll likely see far more men than women occupying those roles.
According to Xactly’s 2023 research, women make up only 34% of the sales workforce. Meanwhile, Gartner’s 2023 labor market survey found “women represent only 40% of mid-level B2B sales employees, dropping to 31% at the senior level.”
Xactly’s research also shows women are paid less than their male counterparts. On average, men earn 3.5% more than women and 3.7% more as sales managers when it comes to fixed pay.
Despite those disparities, women are succeeding in those roles—sometimes outperforming the men on their teams.
We talked with 10 women in B2B sales who have built long, successful careers. Their stories reveal how the experience of women in sales has improved over the years and which remain the same.
